Total minutes5,000
Total hours83.33
Total days3.47

Estimated watch time across all entered views. One day equals 24 total watch hours.

Formula: views × average view duration

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the total views for one video or a group of videos.
  2. Enter the average view duration from the same content and reporting period.
  3. Choose seconds or minutes to match the duration you entered.
  4. Review the estimated total minutes, hours, and 24-hour days. Compare the estimate with platform analytics using the same date range.

What watch time means

Watch time combines the viewing time generated by every view. If two viewers each watch three minutes, they contribute about six minutes of total watch time. Average view duration describes one view on average; total watch time describes the accumulated viewing time across all views.

The calculation is useful for planning and sense-checking analytics, but it remains an estimate. A platform may calculate its displayed result from unrounded durations or apply its own rules for views, traffic, and reporting. This tool does not predict reach, revenue, engagement, or future performance.

Helpful examples for creators

Short-form video

A Reel or TikTok with 10,000 views and a 30-second average view duration produces an estimated 5,000 minutes, or 83.33 hours, of watch time.

YouTube video

A YouTube video with 25,000 views and a six-minute average view duration produces an estimated 150,000 minutes, or 2,500 hours, of watch time.

These examples only demonstrate the formula. They are not benchmarks, platform targets, or promised results.

Use watch time with other creator metrics

Watch time is more useful when the views, duration, content, and date range all match. To review how viewers interact with a post, use the Engagement Rate Calculator. Frequently asked questions

What is watch time?

Watch time is the combined amount of time viewers spend watching a video or group of videos. For example, 100 views with an average view duration of two minutes produces an estimated 200 minutes of watch time.

How do I calculate total watch time?

Multiply total views by average view duration. This calculator converts that result into total minutes, hours, and 24-hour days.

Where can I find average view duration?

Look in the analytics area for the relevant video, account, or date range. Metric names and availability vary across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

Is watch time the same as average view duration?

No. Average view duration estimates how long one view lasts on average. Watch time adds the viewing time from all views together.

Why might platform analytics show a different result?

Platforms may use more precise underlying values, rounding, different definitions of a view, processing delays, filtered traffic, or a different reporting range. Match the views and duration to the same content and period for the most useful estimate.

Does this calculator store my data?

No. The calculator runs in your browser, and the values you enter are not saved by this tool.
